Our method

Who writes this?

Escale Map is an independent site run by a French-speaking traveller who has chosen to stay anonymous. No name, no face: credibility comes from evidence. Every guide states when the place was visited, what was paid and when the practical information was last checked.

How a guide is made

  1. On the ground: notes taken the same day (prices, opening times, travel times, crowds), plus original photos and videos.
  2. Checking: prices, timetables and conditions are cross-checked against official sources (transport operators, tourist boards, venues). Every figure is dated.
  3. Writing: I use artificial intelligence tools to organise my notes, draft a first version and adapt the French text into English. Nothing is published without human review, and no experience is made up: when I haven’t tested something, I say so.
  4. Updating: links and dated facts are checked regularly, and every significant change is logged at the bottom of the guide.

Photos and videos

Unless stated otherwise, photos and videos are original. Location metadata is removed before publication. Any image that is not a photo taken on the spot is labelled as such.

How the site makes money

Some links are affiliate links: if you book through them, Escale Map earns a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are labelled. Recommendations are not for sale: a partner that pays more never jumps ahead of a better option. Details are on the affiliate links page.

Spotted a mistake?

Prices and timetables change. If you notice outdated information, write to me from the contact page: the fix will be made and dated.
